Tomato Tales

The Lockyer Valley farmers grow literally millions of tomatoes each year. At the moment cherry and other small tomatoes are being harvested.  These little tomatoes are best eaten fresh either raw or lightly cooked with garlic, onions and herbs. Larger Tomatoes are very expensive at the moment as they are  out of season -the local new seasons crop of larger varieties are less then 10cm high.  At this time of year, most tomatoes in Queensland shops have traveled from elsewhere or from cold storage.

Our tomato preserves are made when the larger varieties are in season. So we have to wait to make more batches. But this ensures that they are fresh, ripe and full of flavour and that our product has low food miles.  We put tomato flavour in the bottle for you so when the fresh tomatoes are more expensive you can still enjoy the beautiful taste.
