Carnival of Flowers is an Annual Event in Toowoomba and is held every September attracting people from all over the world. The Carnival isn’t just flowers anymore – there are lots of local restaurants celebrating the region’s produce, entertainments events (for both adults and kids) and artisan market stalls like us!
The Carnival has been running every year since its inception in 1949. Here’s a snippet from the Carnival of Flowers website:
Carnival was introduced as a way for the city to use their “Garden City” reputation to promote increased economic activity following the recent hardships of war.
On October 21, 1950 the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers commenced with a street procession that stretched three miles in length. Led by a bullock team and watched by a crowd estimated to be 50,000 strong, the Parade was a resounding success. The Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers subsequently became firmly cemented as an annual event in the region’s community calendar.
Gecko Grove Fine Foods will be set up at St Luke’s Anglican Church on the corner Ruthven St and Herries Street. We will have stall inside the quaint church hall along beautiful work of with the spinners and weavers association and several other stalls. The Church also has beautiful flower arrangements by the Toowoomba Floral Art Group, with concerts daily at 12.30pm.
