Winter Preserve Making
Now winter is here it’s time to cook up the last of the autumn produce so why not join Gecko Grove Fine Foods cook, Barbara, for a preserve making session?
In this class you will learnt about selection and preparation of produce and bottles, setting point, pectin, food preservation and other mysteries. At the end of the cooking class you will have made your own signature preserves from fresh local ingredients, sampled a range of preserves at morning tea. You will take home a recipe card and at least four bottles of preserves.
Our jam sessions are for small groups so booking is essential. Your place will be confirmed once your payment is processed. Minimum numbers do apply so if necessary we will reschedule your jam session or refund your payment. You may like to get a group of four or more friends together for a private class.
What Kind of Preserves?
The sessions will vary according to the fruit and vegetables in season. This may include-
- Lemons – Sweet and Sour – Preserved Lemons & Lemon Curd.
- Beetroot Relish
- Tomato Relish
- Chilli Sauce
$85 for a 3 hour cooking session and morning tea. (Subject to seasonal price change because price of fruit goes up and down.) You will take home at least 4 bottles of preserves valued at $34
What is supplied
All cooking equipment, tools, ingredients and an apron for the day.
What you need to bring
Please wear sensible clothes and fully closed in shoes. Bring a shoe box or similar to take home your jam bottles.
Our jam sessions are held at the historic Forest Hill School of Arts, Railway St, Forest Hill. Or at your location by arrangement.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before class starts to settle in before the fun starts.
